In the past, animals were tattooed for registration – a painful practice. But then came the painless chips in 1993, and while it reduced the pain, a new problem arose: data was only available by phone during business hours. Imagine losing your animal and not being able to immediately find out where it is – unthinkable!
That is why we, at PetBase, were the first to set up an online database for animals in 1998. With our database, your animal can be traced 24/7, so that it can be safely returned to you quickly.
PetBase: an ISO certified family business
Today, PetBase is a ISO certified family business where, despite professionalisation, customers and animals still take centre stage! Several family members still work within the organisation, but in recent years the team has been expanded with enthusiastic colleagues who do not belong to the Leemkuil family, but who now feel part of the family. The team consists of a mix of animal lovers, animal professionals and automation experts. Over the years, PetBase's registrations have been supplemented by the registrations of former databases: RCA, SRGN, VETAIR and Stichting CHIP. This allows us to say that together we have been registering animals for 33 years.
PetBase has a one-stop shop for supplying ISO FDX-B chips (transponders), chipreaders, EU pet passports, luxury vaccination booklets, tokens and registrations.

At PetBase, we are affiliated with EuroPetNet (EPN), a leading European organization that connects databases of chipped pets across Europe. Thanks to EuroPetNet, lost pets can be quickly and efficiently tracked, no matter where they are found in Europe. This makes it much easier for pet owners who travel or move within Europe to reunite with their beloved pet.
In addition to EuroPetNet, we are connected to various national and international platforms such as Petmaxx.com and Chipnummer.nl. These collaborations allow us to quickly and accurately share information with animal shelters, animal ambulances, veterinary clinics, and other organizations dedicated to reuniting pets with their owners. PetBase works every day to create a safe and reliable network for pet registration and recovery, both within the Netherlands and across Europe.
