Register your pet

You can easily register your pet by account Create a pet registration on PetBase. Once logged in, select "Add pet." Then, using your pet's passport or vaccination certificate, fill in the pet's details accurately. Choose basic registration for €7,50 or the Plus package with more options for €8. After payment, your pet will be fully registered in your PetBase account in case it goes missing. Here find more information about registering a new animal.

Yes, you can easily register all your pets at once on PetBase. You can register multiple animals and an entire litter in one affordable order. Select "Add Pet" and fill in your pet's information. In the fourth step, you can choose to add multiple pets using the "Add New Pet" button. On the payment screen, you can choose an upgrade worth €18,00, which allows you to register unlimited pets for one year. With a basic registration, your pet is registered in your name for life, traceable abroad, and you can add a photo of your pet. You can also add two phone numbers, and changes to your address are free. The basic registration fee is €7,50, one time.

With a Plus package, you get an upgrade from a basic registration: you gain the features of a basic registration, you can add a large photo and a vacation address, and you can use the moving service. After purchase, the Plus package is valid for your entire account: each animal in your account then has the features of a Plus package. Registering a new animal will cost you a one-time fee of €7,50 after this, but it offers the features of a Plus package.

Registrations made before November 9, 2021 have a form or registration number. The registered owner can request this number using the email address provided by the registration by looking up the chip number and selecting "Log in and change details." If this is no longer possible, please call us from the registration number or send an email with photos of the pet's passport or vaccination certificate to [email address missing]. info@petbase.eu. We will then look at the options with you.

Registrations after this date can work with a My PetBase account and no longer require a registration number, then everything works with a transfer codeThis code can be found when registering the animal in your PetBase account. Without this number or code, no changes can be made to the database.

A transfer code is required to transfer a pet's registration to a new owner. This code is also called a relocation code, and without it, it's not possible to transfer the pet to another owner. The previous owner can request this code from the my.petbase.eu portal and give it to the new owner. More information can be found on the PetBase support portal.  

Pets with a foreign microchip can also be registered with PetBase. For dogs, an import notification must be submitted to the veterinarian by the first owner or importer. As an owner, you will need a UBN (Unin Belastingdienst) for this. Your veterinarian can arrange this for you through their MyPetBase clinic account. As an owner, you can only register your pet for missing status through your PetBase account. Read our support page more about importing your pet.

All registering agencies, such as veterinarians, shelters, microchippers, and breeders, register your information with us electronically. After electronic registration, the information can be retrieved directly via our website. Registering with one of the recognized databases is generally sufficient. PetBase is affiliated with Europetnet, making your pet traceable abroad. Once the animal has been deregistered, you can easily re-register it in the new owner's name. You'll need the registration number or transfer code for this. The previous owner also received an email with this registration number or transfer code upon deregistration. The chips are made of biocompatible glass (PetBase AnimalID) or plastic (Datamars/Virbac). Biocompatible glass doesn't splinter; it pulverizes into sand. A chip in an animal is virtually invulnerable to trauma. If a puncture does occur, bodily fluids leak into the chip. There's nothing inside the chip that can leak out. Skin irritation and allergic reactions have never been observed.

At the bottom of the form, you can choose which information we display when someone looks up the chip number. We recommend displaying at least the phone numbers so that, in case of loss, an agency can contact you immediately and is not limited by the opening hours of the database and the registering agency.

Your personal information will only be displayed when searching using the 15-digit chip/transponder number and when you've opted to release the information. If you don't opt ​​to release the information, the information for the registering agency will be displayed when you request it. Please note that this agency may only be open on certain days and at certain times. Therefore, if you haven't opted to release the information and the animal is found in the evening or at night, you won't be contactable directly!  

Sterilization only renders the animal infertile by tying off the oviducts. In practice, however, the ovaries are almost always removed. This is considered castration, even in females. Sometimes the uterus is also completely removed (for example, in the case of a uterine infection).

When registering a pet, the owner's email address must be entered. Unfortunately, typos sometimes occur. If you accidentally receive this email, please notify PetBase and delete it from your system. PetBase can be reached by phone at 0900 738 22 73 or by email at info@petbase.eu. 

Missing or found pet

Your dog or cat has gone missing, that's terrible! You want him or her back as soon as possible, and PetBase can help. Reporting your dog or cat missing is easy in PetBase. Find the registration via Find chip number. Enter the 15-digit number of the chip on this page and click on the 'Search' button. You will then see your animal details and then click on 'Log in and change'. If you have a My PetBase account You can then select your pet via "My Animals" and report it missing there. You can also create a missing poster to share in your neighborhood and on social media.

Check your privacy settings immediately: after logging in, click "My address + phone number." At the bottom of the form, you can choose which information we display when someone looks up the chip number. This is not due to unwillingness, but may have an important reason. If you don't see the owner's contact information, use the 'Report animal found' button. The owner will then receive an email and can contact you.

Note: If you cannot reach the owner directly and the owner does not respond to your report via the animal-found button within 24 hours, please report the animal as found via info@petbase.euPlease include the chip number, where the animal was found, and your contact information. We will then try to help you personally.
