Shelters register animals cheaply at PetBase

Register your pet's chip - dog, cat, rabbit, ferret, horse - in the European database of the Netherlands

PetBase helps shelters!

PetBase allows you to register up to 200 animals for free in the name of your shelter or foundation. The cost (in PetPoints) is only charged when the animal is placed in the shelter's care. Shelters and foundations are not charged PetPoints for non-legally required notifications up to 200 registrations on the shelter's or foundation's account. The standard rate applies for registrations exceeding 200. We do this because...Animal shelters in the Netherlands do fantastic work! They help animals in need and care for them. That deserves a lot of praise.

But they also have some administrative work to do, such as registering animals and making passports and vaccination booklets. Fortunately, the PetBase animal database is happy to help with this paperwork. This allows shelters to focus more on rescuing and caring for animals.

As a shelter, you save time by using PetPoints

We, the PetBase animal database, wanted to move away from the use of the latest paper forms and go completely digital. A PetPoint is a unit of value (also called credit). With a PetPoint, you can register a microchip, pay for a legal notification to the government (RVO), or register a passport. By purchasing them in advance and adding them to your account, you save time and money.

The owner no longer receives a paper confirmation that can also be used by a subsequent owner (unsafe), but instead receives an email confirming the registration. Each registration confirmation now automatically includes a new transfer code. The transfer code changes with each new owner, but can also be regenerated at any time. This prevents a previous owner from making changes after the transfer. This is a major improvement. privacy from the new owner!

Frequently Asked Questions for Shelters

You can register through our website, but also directly from a growing number of management software programs like Docasoft. After registering, the information is immediately available on our website.

It may be helpful to have the manager or one of the employees recognized as a microchipper in your professional PetBase account. Veterinary nurses are automatically considered the same as microchippers under the new law, but only if they are registered in the Veterinary Register. Here too, the shelter's address must be registered as the work address in the Veterinary Register.
Also check whether the UBN number of the reception center is known or request it from RVO

No, not all animals have an obligation. A dog or horse has a 528-number obligation.

This is possible and even cost-saving by first registering the animals in the shelter's name. If you don't already have one, create a professional PetBase account to register the microchip numbers. If a pet goes to a new owner, you can also transfer the pet to the new owner.

Please note: PetBase allows you to register up to 200 animals for free under your shelter or foundation's name. The cost (in PetPoints) will only be charged when the animal is adopted.

In the United States, among other places, FDX-A chip numbers are often used. An FDX-A chip number has a 10-digit code and usually consists of 9 digits and 1 letter. In Europe, FDX-B chip numbers are always used for pets. These chip numbers have a fixed structure and always consist of 15 digits. The first three digits are either a manufacturer number or a country code. Manufacturer numbers always begin with a 9, for example, 945 for FiveStar transponders.

The ISO 11784/85 standards, together, form the standard for electronic animal identification. ISO 11784 describes the number structure (15 digits, the first three being the manufacturer or country code). ISO 3 is the technical concept of the chips. All chips sold by PetBase / Micpoint BV comply with these standards.
